Wow
– the holidays are upon us (where did the fall go?).
It's time to wrap up our seasonal shopping with a big bow
and distribute presents to those near (or far) and dear to
us. In this issue of Fair Grounds, we've got some
great gift-giving suggestions. We've also got a summary of
a wild and woolly 2006, a Fair Trade spotlight on Guayakí, a
Santa Anita update, a Community Caravan and a holiday
recipe in an issue that can best be described as a
year-end extravaganza. Grab a mug of your favorite Fair
Trade beverage, kick back and enjoy...

| Thank
you
to all of you who so generously pitched in to help our
friends of the Santa
Anita community in Guatemala. To date, together, we
have raised over $6,000 for the community, which they are
currently using to harvest this year’s crop of Fair
Trade, organic coffee. About $4,000 more and we will have
met our goal of $10,000. Looking for a really unique,
special gift to give this year? Consider a contribution to
our friends in Santa
Anita la Union.

Between
frantically roasting and packing orders during our busiest
month, and tweaking our plans for the upcoming year; it is
hard for us to stop, take a deep breath, and gaze into the
rear view mirror. But while sitting around the dinner table at
Tripp's house last night, we all agreed that it sure feels
good to look back for a moment and smile. Another
remarkable year is winding down here at Cafe Campesino and
we are so grateful to all of you for your support and
encouragement as our little coffee experiment continues to
grow. So here is a list of a few of the accomplishments as
well as the fun events and visits that we have been
blessed with during the last year.

2006
saw some neat additions to our Fair Trade product line-up.
In addition to our broad selection of artisan - roasted -
to - order Fair Trade, organic coffees (try
to say that ten times really fast), we’re thrilled to
offer Guayakí organic, rainforest-grown, fairly traded
yerba mate (accent on the e). Not sure what all the hubbub
about this yerba mate stuff is about? Read
about the good work our friends at Guayakí are doing
and learn about their fabulous yerba mate, a beverage made
from the leaves and stems of a powerful rainforest tree,
native to the subtropical rainforests of Paraguay, Brazil
and Argentina.
Whether
you’re looking for gifts for family and friends or for
an easy answer to your organization’s “B2B” holiday
gift needs, read on to learn what Café Campesino has to
offer for the 2006 holiday season!

Last
March, we announced our new relationship with Guayakí
and the introduction of their fabulous certified-organic,
rainforest-grown Yerba Mate beverages to our product
line-up. Our alliance with Guayakí continues to be
particularly inspiring because of the deep commitment to
sustainable trade and the vision of a better world that we
share. And while Guayakí’s yerba mate drinks are a
fantastic compliment to our line up of 100% Fair Trade,
organic, shade grown coffees, it is their work with and
respectful commitment to the Aché Guayakí people that we
cherish most. Café Campesino thanks Guayakí for helping
to make the promise of Fair Trade a reality... today.

yerba mate products are now available in
our online store in the Teas & Chais
section. Choose from a variety of Organic Packaged
Guayakí Yerba Mate Tea Bags and Loose Mate, and Mate
Gourds and Bombillas, artisan-crafted in the heart of
South America. To learn more about preparing yerba mate
drinks, visit the recipes
page of our March 2006 edition of Fair Grounds.

A
hearty thanks to all of our friends – Bonnie, Dick, Geoffrey, Roy and his crew

Benning’s School of the Americas.

Campesino’s Annual Open House... Join us this Friday, December 8th, from 5 pm
until whenever, at 725 Spring Street for an evening full of coffee, espresso,

Gold. We’ll see you there!
