On behalf of our producer partners around the world and everyone here at Café Campesino, we want to thank all of our customers for helping us make 2007 another banner year down here in Southwest Georgia!

We also want to thank the staff at Cooperative Coffees: Bill, Monika, Abby, and crew for everything they do to connect us with our coffee-producing partners and their extraordinary quality green coffee beans, season after season. This past July Café Campesino and the other 22 members of Cooperative Coffees achieved a noteworthy milestone: the importation of our coop's 8 millionth pound of Fair Trade coffee. Now, how about them beans!

Finally, we want to take this opportunity to thank our producer partners for everything they do to make this all possible — we are grateful and proud to be your trading partners and friends.

We look forward to more of the same in 2008 and wish everyone in the Café Campesino family a happy holiday season!

Adelante!

Unfortunately, because of issues at origin, we have a very limited supply of Sumatra through the holidays – we anticipate a new shipment to arrive in the next 2-3 weeks. East Timor is out of stock until the first of the year. But don't fret... we've lots of fine coffee available to help you (and your friends) get your buzz on...

A big thanks to Geoffrey, who spent the weekend of November 16-18 in Columbus, Georgia, for the School of the Americas Watch, where he served up tons of Café Campesino coffee to the thousands of students, people of faith, and human rights activists attending the annual vigil. The School of the Americas Watch (SOAW) is a grassroots movement that stands in solidarity with the people of Latin America to close the SOA/WHINSEC and to change what many believe is the oppressive U.S. foreign policy that the SOA represents. This makes the ninth year that Café Campesino has served coffee at the SOAW. We also want to extend a hearty thanks to our friend Sheila Crowley and the many other folks who went out of their way to volunteer and help Geoffrey keep the java flowin'.

Bill just returned (literally) from a 12-day journey to Sumatra where he met with our friends at PPKGO, attended meetings between FLO (Fair Trade Labeling Organization) and our producer partners there and visited a few new potential partner groups as well. We're all waiting to learn more about Bill's experience in Sumatra... stay tuned for his trip report in an upcoming issue of Fair Grounds.

Café Campesino's annual Open House is this Thursday, December 13th. Please join us at 725 Spring Street from 5 to 9 pm for an evening full of coffee, espresso, hors d'oeuvres, holiday shopping, and, well, just a darn good time!

You never know what perfect gift idea you'll stumble upon at the roastery while sipping on a cup of fresh-roasted, freshly-brewed Café Campesino coffee! We have everything from Fair Trade soccer balls to handmade pottery, finger puppets to handbags, and much more. Café Campesino will be open from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, December 22nd for your last minute gift shopping convenience! Stop by the roastery at 725 Spring Street for our amazing Fair Trade sale. And, of course, our coffees, teas, chais, Guayaki and Dagoba products will be available.

Café Campesino will be closed on Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th for Christmas. Be sure to get those orders in early to avoid running out of coffee! We will re-open on Wednesday the 26th. We will close again on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, and will resume normal hours on Wednesday, January 2.

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we wish you and your family a joyous holiday and a prosperous new year!
